Termite Bait Stations
Defend Your Property Against
Costly Termite Infestations

Safeguard Your Property With Termite Baiting Systems
In Australia, protecting your property from termites is a significant concern. These silent invaders feed on the timber in your walls, floors and foundations, often going unnoticed until severe damage is done.
At Hills Guardian, we expertly install and monitor professional-grade termite bait stations designed to target termites on your property. This proactive approach keeps your home or business safe from the damage caused by these insects.
Termites Are Putting Your Home at Risk

Termites thrive in Sydney’s warm, damp conditions, and with one queen producing thousands of eggs daily, they rapidly form large colonies. Their favourite food source is cellulose, which is found in timber, and they will devour your home’s structure, floor, deck and more.
As a result, you’ll be faced with a very expensive repair bill, which your home insurance will not cover.
The average cost to repair a home affected by termite activity can reach several thousands of dollars. If these tenacious pests cause substantial damage, you could end up with a bill of up to $100,000 for extensive remedial work.
Prevention Is Best When It Comes to Termites.
What Are Termite Bait Stations?
Effective for monitoring termite activity, preventing outbreaks and eradicating existing colonies, bait stations are the ideal defence against attacks from termites.
There are two types of termite bait station, each with a purpose:
In-Ground Bait Stations
These units are buried beneath the earth or inserted into concrete at set intervals around the perimeter (usually around three metres). They essentially act as a termite security alarm, helping you to prevent them from reaching your property.
In-ground systems work for both prevention and eradication of termite activity. Initially, the station contains termite-attracting timber for monitoring. When signs of termites are found, the station is filled with bait.
People who understand the risk of termites and want to be proactive, choose to install underground bait stations.

Above-Ground Bait Stations
Designed for reactive measures, above-ground bait stations are placed directly over active termite areas inside or around a building.
These units are filled with bait upon installation and target visible infestations. By drawing termites to the station, not your timber, they help to quickly eliminate the colony while protecting the structure from further damage.
Above-ground bait stations are a solid solution if you have confirmed termite activity around your property.

Exterra: Our Premier Termite Bait Station Solution
At Hills Guardian, we take pride in using the most effective, reliable and safe products available, which is why we choose Exterra.

How Exterra Works
Exterra is a patented termite baiting system that contains a specially formulated bait, REQUIEM®. It lures termites in with a food source they can’t resist (usually a mix of their preferred food, cellulose, and the bait itself).
After the termites have discovered and ingested the bait (sometimes referred to as a termite poison), they carry it back to the nest and share it amongst the colony.
The bait is deliberately slow to act. Its gradual action (usually around four months), means the termites don’t identify the cause of their decline. It kills termites as they try to shed their existing skins and grow, which eventually wipes out the entire colony at its source.
This gives you long-term protection and peace of mind, without disrupting your property or your daily life.
Advantages of Exterra
With Exterra, you enjoy the benefits of:
Safe baiting formula – its termite bait is non-toxic to people, pets and the environment.
Non-invasive protection – Exterra bait stations are installed around your property, not in your foundations, with no injection or excavation required.
Undetectable baiting formula – termites don’t notice that the bait is a harmful substance.
Highly effective and long-lasting bait – pests die gradually and bait remains active for a full four seasons (one year) before replacement is needed.
Little disruption to your property – you’ll barely notice the bait stations are there.
Colony elimination – termites bring the poison back to the nest and spread it, which is more effective than using sprays or other treatment methods.
Peace of mind – this professional system provides a reliable solution that keeps your property safe from ongoing costly termite damage.
Commercial and residential suitability – Exterra offers reliable protection for homes, commercial premises and investment properties.

How We Help: Our Termite Bait Station Process
Hills Guardian’s expert pest control team takes the following steps to detect termite activity and eliminate the problem.
Inspection & Recommendations
Our termite specialists will thoroughly inspect your home or commercial property and any outbuildings to look for signs of termite activity.
If termites are present, we identify the species and assess the scale of the problem to understand the best course of action. If they are not present, we will talk about preventative measures, such as in-ground bait stations.
Following our inspection, we provide tailored recommendations that suit your property and circumstances, whether this is for termite baits or termite barriers.
Installation
If the decision has been made to go ahead, professional termite bait stations are strategically installed.
Where concrete paths or driveways are present, in-concrete termite traps are used, sitting flush with the surface. If termites are active inside your home, above-ground stations will be fitted directly at the infestation points.
Monitoring
For in-ground units, our technician will visit every seven weeks to check each station for signs of termites. If the food/timber in the station has been consumed, it’s an indicator that these pests are present, and it’s time to take the next step.
Where above-ground stations have been installed for an infestation, we will frequently monitor the units to ensure the termites are taking the bait. This gives you improved protection against termite damage.
Detection & Termite Bait
When termites are detected within in-ground stations, we introduce Exterra’s REQUIEM® bait to the station to destroy the nest and eradicate the infestation. At all times, our friendly team will aim to minimise either home or business disruption as much as possible.
Ongoing Protection
Once we’ve confirmed the infestation has been eliminated, above-ground stations can be removed. For underground units, they remain in place, and we will continue with scheduled monitoring. This protects you from the threat of termites, safeguarding your home or business from costly damage and provides peace of mind.

Termite Bait Station FAQs
How Much Do Termite Bait Stations Cost?
The price of termite bait station installation depends on several factors, including:
- The footprint of your home or commercial property.
- Soil type and ease of access.
- Construction design and layout.
- The total number of bait stations required.
At Hills Guardian Pest Control, we provide tailored quotes based on your property’s needs. This ensures you get an effective system designed to deliver the best long-term protection.
Do Termite Bait Traps Really Work?
Yes. When installed and maintained by licensed professionals, bait stations are one of the most efficient measures for detection, control, and elimination of termites. Instead of repelling these pests or killing them one at a time, they actively target colonies at the source for complete eradication.
What’s the Best Termite Baiting System for My Home?
At Hills Guardian, we use and recommend the Exterra termite baiting system. This is proven to be one of the most effective and reliable solutions, using highly attractive bait to eliminate entire termite colonies.
How Long Do Bait Stations Last?
With regular monitoring and maintenance, professional termite bait stations provide continuous protection year after year. The bait is replenished as needed, ensuring ongoing defence against new or existing termite colonies.
What Does Termite Bait Station Installation Involve?
Installation is simple and non-invasive. In-ground or above-ground termite traps are placed inside and around your property in key foraging areas, at a distance of around three metres apart. If your home has concrete paths, in-concrete stations can be installed.
Are Termite Bait Stations Mandatory in NSW?
While termite baiting isn’t mandatory, Fair Trading NSW requires that builders provide a termite risk management system during new builds and renovations. Bait stations are an excellent option for existing homes and commercial properties where chemical or physical barriers may not be suitable.
Are Termite Baits Safe for Pets and Kids?
Indeed, they are. The termite poison we use inside bait stations is contained within secure units and is non-toxic to people, pets and the environment. When installed by professionals, baiting is a safe, family-friendly way to protect your property.
